Local Agencies and Organizations

Each county has a local network of public agencies and community-based organizations that work together to assist older adults, family caregivers, and adults with disabilities. If you are unsure where to begin, contact your local Maryland Access Point where staff can assist you with navigating this network. The agencies covered in this section include:

  • Area Agencies on Aging (AAA)
  • Centers for Independent Living (CILs)
  • Local Department of Social Services (DSS)
  • Local Health Department (LHD)

Maryland Access Point (MAP) staff are available to help you explore your options to meet your current needs or create a plan for the future.
